Tree Planting Celebration A Symbolic and Educational Experience
for Deerfield Tots

Buffalo Grove, IL – May 10, 2012--- Four-year-olds attending the Deerfield Park District Preschool Program will take part in planting a White Oak, the official tree of Illinois, at a symbolic “grow with the Park District” celebration. The event will take place on Wednesday, May 16 at 2 p.m. in Deerfield’s Jewett Park. Oaklee’s Family Guide™ will donate the tree procured from Landscape Concepts Management, a commercial landscape and snow removal company located in Grayslake, IL. Families, friends and neighbors of Jewett Park and of the participating Preschool are invited to join in the Oak Tree planting celebration and even lend a hand in planting the tree.
In April, Deerfield Director of Parks Jay Zahn and Preschool & Early Childhood Supervisor Ginny Wiemerslage met with Oaklee’s Family Guide’s Vice President of Sales, Jim Rosas, to develop a plan that afforded the four-year olds attending the Deerfield Park District Preschool Program a chance to take part in a unique and fun learning activity to supplement the Preschool’s diverse offerings that include nature/science, outdoor activities and much more.
“Oaklee’s Family Guide is honored to sponsor and participate in the Deerfield Park District Preschool Program’s oak tree planting event as part of our strong relationship with the Deerfield Park District,” said Nancy Stevens, founder of Oaklee’s Family Guide. “We are proud to, not only give back to the community, but also be a part of the preschool childrens’ educational experience.”
The Oak Tree will grow in Jewett Park –the community’s main park located just outside the Community Center in which the Preschool Program is housed. Since many of Deerfield’s Preschoolers “grow with the Park District” from parent-tot programs and Preschool through art, dance, cooking, sports and other activities at Jewett Park Community Center, everyone will be able to keep an eye on the oak tree over the years as it grows as tall as 60 feet.

Buffalo Grove, IL – April 16, 2012--- In order to help families spend their dollars closer to home, the Carol Stream Park District decided to focus on local vendors for their Farmer’s Market. "Best Seminar I Ever Attended. It Was Really Helpful!"

Buffalo Grove, IL – March 1, 2012---“To successfully market to moms, businesses must relate on a personal level and build a ‘mom community’ around their brand.” according to Nancy Stevens at today’s Marketing, Moms and Money seminar held by Oaklee’s Family Guide™. Mrs. Stevens went on to say “A majority of moms feel that marketers are missing the mark. Moms are the CEOs; that is Chief Enrichment Officers for their family and our research shows that 71 percent of these women want marketing to be targeted directly to them.”

The event, which took place at the Bloomingdale Golf Club in Bloomingdale, Ill., featured Nancy Stevens, owner and founder of Oaklee’s Family Guide; Jennifer Joyce, vice president of marketing, communications and guest services at the Chicago Children’s Museum; and Patti Minglin, founder/CEO of Go Girl Communications.

The panelists emphasized the importance of engaging in social media, saying that moms are major users of Facebook.

According to Mrs. Minglin, “Conversation about brands happens due to social media. Whether it’s positive or not, businesses need to know what their consumers are saying and participate in the discussion.”

Mrs. Joyce added that, “Successful social media tools will drive people to businesses’ websites and through their doors.”

Recent research by Oaklee’s Family Guide revealed that 67 percent of parents surveyed reported they spent less on their kids in 2011. “Which stresses the importance that businesses need to create a solution and not just a marketing message about themselves,” said Mrs. Stevens. “Solve the moms’ problem, don’t just push product.”

This was the first in a series of seminars sponsored by Oaklee's Family Guide™. Please contact us for more information about upcoming speaking engagements and seminars.
